End of One book cover — The Precision Health Revolution That Finally Sees You

Coming November 2026

You Are Not Average

You did what you were told. You took the protocol. You hit the numbers. You were told you were fine. Your body knew otherwise.

End of One is the case against one-size-fits-all medicine — and a field guide for the person that system was never designed to see. Scott Raymond Schaffer did not arrive at precision health from a safe distance. He arrived as a patient: type 2 diabetes, a standard stack that did not move the needle, then a stroke. The average had an answer. His biology did not match it.

This book shows why population protocols fail ordinary people every day, what N-of-1 actually means, and how to use the tools that already exist — labs, wearables, metabolomics, hormones, sleep, inflammation, the questions your chart never asked — to become the investigator of your own case.

It is written for the person sitting in the exam room being told everything looks fine. It is also written for the practitioner who knows the protocol is not enough, and is willing to treat the one in front of them instead of the average in the guideline.

The average was never you

Population protocols were built to help the most people at once. They were not built to see the person in the chair.

The patient became the investigator

Type 2 diabetes. A protocol that did not move the needle. Then a stroke. The system had an answer. His biology did not match it.

N-of-1 is the method

Your labs, your sleep, your hormones, your history. One case. One plan. The end of one-size-fits-all … and the start of becoming the advocate of your own health.

The Author

Scott Raymond Schaffer, Author

Scott Raymond Schaffer is a Precision Health Practitioner and the author of End of One. He did not come to this work from a safe distance. Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, handed the standard protocol, then a stroke survivor, he learned what the average could not explain about his own body. He became the investigator of his own case — and built a practice helping other people do the same. Scott works with clients and collaborates with clinicians on N-of-1 care: individual data, better questions, and a plan written for one person, not a cohort. End of One is the book that came out of that work — for the patient told they were fine, and for the practitioner ready to treat the person in the chair. He is based in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania and coastal Delaware.
